AAA - abdominal aortic aneurysm
AIDS - acquired immune deficiency syndrome
ALL - acute lymphocytic leukemia (acute lymphoblastic leukemia)
ARDS - adult respiratory distress syndrome
BPH - benign prostatic hypertrophy
CA - cancer or carcinoma
CF - cystic fibrosis
CHF - congestive heart failure
CMV - cytomegalovirus
COPD - chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
CVA - cerebrovascular accident
DISH - diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis
DJD - degenerative joint disease
DM - diabetes mellitus
DVT - deep venous (or vein) thrombosis
FCD - fibrocystic disease
GERD - gastroesophageal reflux disease
HMD - hyaline membrane disease
