Home Made Pretzels


3/4 Cup Warm Water
3 Tblsp. Brown Sugar
2-1/2 tsp. Active Dry Yeast
2-1/2 Cups Flour
Coarse Salt
Baking Soda

- In a large bowl, mix the Warm Water and Yeast until disolved.
- Stir in Brown Sugar.
- Slowly add 2 Cups of Flour to the mixture.
- Continue stirring until mixture is smooth and does not stick to side of bowl.
- Place 1/2 cup of flour on cutting board and knead the dough until smooth and stretchy.
- Break off little balls of dough and roll out into a cylindrical shape - form pretzel shapes with dough.
- Fill a frying pan with water. For each cup of water in the pan, add 1 Tblsp. of Baking Soda.
- Bring water to a gentle boil.
- Place formed pretzel carefully into the water and count slowly to 30.
- Lift the pretzel gently out of the water onto a greased and salted cookie sheet.
- Bake for 8 minutes or until pretzels are golden brown.
